Awareness Campaigns Worth Promoting

Awareness Campaign

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the promotional products industry is helping organizations spread the word about worthy causes.  And there is no shortage of causes for your organization to show support for.  Throughout the year key months are designated to help organizations educate and raise awareness about important issues.  These issues are hugely important to your existing and potential customers, giving you an opportunity to form an emotional connection with your customers.  At the end of the day customers want to buy from companies that align with their own values and support brands that give back.

There is a misconception that you have to be a charity or in the healthcare industry to raise awareness for causes such as breast cancer or mental health, but that definitely isn’t the case.  Here are six causes your company can support, and promo ideas that can help their mission!

February: American Heart Month

When the first American Heart Month was proclaimed in 1964 more than half the deaths in the United States were caused by cardiovascular disease.  While it is still the leading cause of death in the US, it is also one of the most preventable.  American Hearth Month raises awareness for making heart-healthy choices, managing your health with your doctor and spreading the word about heart disease prevention.

June: PTSD Awareness

In 2014, the US Senate designated the full month of June for National PTSD Awareness.  The purpose of PTSD Awareness Month is to encourage everyone to raise public awareness of PTSD and effective treatments.  Mental health experts are uncertain why some people develop PTSD and others do not, but greater understanding and awareness of PTSD could help people recognize symptoms and seek care.

ptsdSeptember: Hunger Action Month

Every September people all over America stand together with a nationwide network of food banks to spread the word and take action against the hunger crisis.  1 in 8 people struggle with hunger, and research from Feeding America demonstrates that hunger exists in every county in the America.  During Hunger Action Month food banks across the country help raise awareness of food insecurity and promote adequate nutrition as essential for a strong foundation in life.
