TL;DR: Sport Clips, which specializes in men’s haircuts, expanded rapidly across North America. As the brand grew, they found a need to control brand consistency and spending. Boundless offered the GroupBuy™ solution, and training for the portal has become part of the onboarding process for all new branches.

Stuff

overview

Sport Clips styling centers specialize in haircuts for men in a setting that includes TVs showing sports, a hot, steamed towel, and stylists who specialize in men’s cuts. After the first Sport Clips opened in 1993, the brand quickly grew from one store in Austin, Texas, to several locations across the state to 500 stores by 2007. In 2012, the brand expanded to Canada, and continues with more than 1,800 locations across North America.

strategy & goals

As Sport Clips experienced rapid growth across the country, the need to maintain brand consistency and control spending grew as well. Boundless Brand Consultant, Brandee Scott, closely partnered with management at Sport Clips in a thorough discovery process and launched a custom Portal Store with GroupBuy™ integrations.

GroupBuy™ allowed Sport Clips to reduce overall branding costs by leveraging large orders throughout the organization rather than individually from single franchisees. It also maintained brand consistency, because there is only one spot for individual locations to purchase its branded products.

results

This solution allowed Sport Clips to offer marketing-approved, turn-key solutions to new Sport Clips buyers at all locations. GroupBuy™ and Portal training became part of the onboarding process for all new Sport Clips branches resulting in widespread adoption across the organization.

conclusion

Management was thrilled to find a solution that allowed them to maintain brand consistency while also managing spending.
