The Climb to #1
In sports or business, striving to be number one is important.
One of my biggest frustrations is seeing how we’ve become so soft with our children, a society where everyone is a freaking winner. Real life doesn’t work that way. Much to my wife’s dismay, if you ask my 6-year-old about second place, she will tell you that second place is the first loser. Whether you’re dealing with 6-year-olds playing sports or distributorships in the promotional products industry, there are always winners and losers.
Counselor Magazine recently published its annual Distributor Top 40 list. Boundless Network was ranked 33rd. It’s great that we’re on the list, but there are other numbers we can consider that tell, as Paul Harvey would say, “the rest of the story.”
A few indisputable facts:
- Boundless was named to the 2010 Fastest-Growing Distributor list (no. 3) by Counselor Magazine (162% two-year growth).
- Boundless is the fastest growing distributor in the Distributor Top 40.
- Boundless is the only member of the Distributor Top 40 to make the 2010 Fastest-Growing Distributor list.
- Boundless’ one-year revenue growth outpaced the Distributor Top 40 average by more than 50% (the average was -13%).
- More than 90% of the Distributor Top 40 had declining revenue (2008-2009)
When you look at the whole picture, Boundless is the number one distributorship in our industry.
We accomplished this because we push the envelope, we invest heavily in technology, we are in touch with the emerging trends and we find the right people.
If you’re Joe Promo who’s satisfied with the status quo, you should go to the national shops. But if you’re a promotional products athlete who wants to win (and win big), I welcome your call. Let’s go kick some industry ass!

You have to keep in mind it is the journey to the top that the people at the top miss.
Once there then what. My point is that being number one is a great accomplishment and maintaining that takes great strength. But it will be the journey that will be the most memorable once your looking back! Remember to take time to enjoy the climb.
